Sheridan HS Soccer: One of the 2 Sheridan High School soccer teams is state tournament bound and will continue to play this weekend.

The other is done for the season.

Yesterday at the 4A East Regional tournament in Cheyenne, the Broncs had a 4-nothing lead early in the second half against Cheyenne South, then let the opposition off the hook a little bit, but they still won 4-2 to qualify for next weekend’s state tournament.

Christian Burgess scored twice, while Dane Steel and Kelten Crow put one in themselves.

Sheridan will play today in the regional semi-finals against Thunder Basin beginning at 1pm at Cheyenne East.

If they win, they will play again tomorrow in the regional championship game, and if they lose they will play again tomorrow in the regional 3rd place game.

As for the Lady Broncs, they would give up a goal in the first 2 minutes in both the first and second half against Cheyenne East, got one of them back, but could not score the equalizer, and ended up losing 2-1 in an elimination game.

Sydney Warnke scored the lone goal for Sheridan, and the team finishes the season with a record of 7-7-1.

Sheridan County HS Track and Field: The Regional Meets are today and tomorrow at various locations.

Sheridan will compete at the 4A East Regional Meet at Cheyenne South.

Field events start at 12-noon today and running events start at 1pm.

Tomorrow’s events are scheduled to start at 9 and 10am respectively.

Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont will compete at the 2A East and 1A East Regional Meet at Sundance.

Field events today start at 10am and running events start at 1pm.

Tomorrow’s events start at 9 and 9:30am.

Sheridan Lacrosse: The regular season concludes tomorrow for the both Sheridan teams.

The Lady Mavericks will play their only 2 home games of the season tomorrow, as they will take on Rapid City at 9am and Cheyenne at 2pm at the Old Normative Services Field.

Sheridan is 7-3 on the season which includes a win last weekend against previously undefeated Bozeman.

Rapid City and Cheyenne are not a part of the Montana High School Lacrosse League, so tomorrow’s games are non-conference contests.

Head Coach Brianna Scholl says she knows a little bit about the opposition that the Lady Mavericks will face this weekend, and she adds her team has battled hard in every game they’ve played so far this season.

The Sheridan boys are 7-2 on their season and play at 11am and 3pm tomorrow in Billings.

If they win both games, they will most likely get the #2 seed at next weekend’s state tournament, and Coach JR Wright says he’s pleased with where the team currently stands.

The state tournament is next weekend in Helena.

Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers will play a home double-header tomorrow night vs. Lovell.

First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 5pm and you can watch both games LIVE at sheridanmedia.com or you can hear the radio play-by-play on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

On Sunday, Sheridan will play 2 at the Billings Royals, beginning at 12-noon.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies avoided the sweep, by winning yesterday at home vs. San Francisco 9-1.

Brenton Doyle hit a 3-run home run in the game.

The Rocks start a 3-game home series vs. the Texas Rangers this weekend.

Game times are at 6:40pm today, 6:10pm tomorrow and 1:10pm on Sunday.

Denver Nuggets/NBA Playoffs: The Denver Nuggets play Game 3 of their second round best of 7 series tonight at Minnesota, starting at 7:30.

The Nuggets trail the series 2-nothing.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday also at Minnesota, starting at 6pm.

Last night in the playoffs, Cleveland and Dallas picked up road wins to tie their playoff series at 1-game each.

The Cavaliers won at Boston 118-94, while the Mavericks got the win at Oklahoma City 119-110.

Colorado Avalanche/NHL Playoffs: The Colorado Avalanche tried to make another comeback last night at Dallas, but this time the team came up short.

The Avs were down 4-0 at the start of the 3rd period, then rallied to make it 4-3, but the opposition would score an empty net goal late to put it away and tie the series at 1-game each.

Game 3 is tomorrow at Denver starting at 8pm.

Elsewhere in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last night, the New York Rangers pulled off another overtime win 3-2, and this time it was at Carolina.

New York is a perfect 7-0 so far in the playoffs and will try to sweep their way into the Eastern Conference Finals tomorrow.
